Author W. Cleon Skousen

In this rather blandly sarcastic review of Carroll Quigley’s mammoth text, “Tragedy and Hope: A History of the World in Our Time,” Skousen points out that Quigley can so casually expose various members of the world’s wealthy cabal, because Quigley believes that these few robber baron overlords have planted so many controlled politicians, bankers and cultural entertainers that they cannot be defeated. In contrast, Skousen thinks that well-informed citizens in the United States and other nations can successfully resist and overcome the stealth plans of the super-wealthy.  Both authors agree that the political left and right are governed by the same forces, and further that these forces are now determined to wipe out America’s middle class.  Both men name some of those wealthy scions:  the Rothschilds, J.P. Morgans, Rockefellers, Rhodes-Milers, Astors, Carnegies, Whitneys, etc.  Skousen is especially concerned about the cabal’s idea of establishing non-profit organizations, which he believes will eventually be the undoing of the United States and its democracy.
